“Mama, where are we going?”

“Shh, you’ll find out soon…”

“But I wanna know!”

“We’re going to meet a friend of mine, Chau. Now calm down.”, Eliava scolded quietly, carrying the child with one arm as her other hand was holding onto the older, quieter child. She was visiting Feli for their kids’ scheduled play-date, and it would be good for the children to meet someone their age with Tien’s rather strict standards for friends. She felt her son’s grip on her hand tighten as they approached the Italian house, trying to soothe him somehow. “Don’t worry, Mdinare. He’s nice and has children your age.”

“But Mama, what if he’s a capitalist?”

“He’s not going to convert you to capitalism, don’t worry…”

“If you say so…”

“Come on, put a smile on your face.”, She murmured softly, walking up to the door. “Chau, sweetie, want to knock on the door to let him know we’re here?” The younger daughter of the Georgian lifted her hand and knocked on the door, grinning quite broadly. Now to wait and see if Feli was home…

Nation of Georgia Marks Independence Anniversary with Bronze Reagan Statue - The Atlantic
Apparently, Ronald Reagan statues are becoming the item to unveil. As I posted yesterday, a Reagan statue popped up in Poland. Now, Georgia. Who’s next? I’m looking at you Bulgaria!

This year, the world marks the 20th anniversary of the Soviet empire going belly up. No less importantly, on November 23, Georgia will be marking St. George’s Day and the eighth anniversary of the 2003 Rose Revolution. So, what better way to celebrate all three events than to unveil a monument to Ronald Reagan in downtown Tbilisi?
Tbilisi residents strolling in one downtown park will soon find the crusader against the “evil empire” sitting casually on a bench with crossed legs, and gesturing for passers-by to join him for a chat; probably on the ills of Communism or the merits of economic deregulation.
